Anthelminthic efficacy of Piperazine citrate and Bephenium hydroxynaphtoate (Alcopar) on the intestinal helminths

Abstract
Authors have evaluated the anthelminthic efficacy of piperazine citre-te and Bephenium hydroxynaplithoate as anthelminthics against common intest_nal helminthes in Korea from Apr. 1969 to Feb. 1970 and obtained some interesting findings.
The results could be summarized as follows:
1) The syrup preparation of piperazine citrate (U. S. P. )were administered as following sch,Aule; i. e. 3.85g/day for 2 days (total 7.7gm)3.85 gm/day for 3 days (10. 5gm); 4.4gm/day for 1 day (4.4gm) 2.2gm/day for 4 consecutive days (8. 8gm). The negative conversion rates of Ascaris ova in each groups were obtained 81.5 S 82.5 ;¢¥b, 86.5 5/c, and 84.0 % respectively. The tablet preparations of piperazine citrate were administered 70mg/kg for 2 times of 1 week internal and obtained 77.3 o them were nagatively converted in Ascaris ova.
2) The egg reduction rates were 99.1% (3.85gm of Piprazine citrate syrup for = days in 21 cases)and 100,10 (70mg /kg for 2 times in 11 cases) respectively.
3) The single adminstration of Bephenium hydroxynaphthoate (Alcopar) shovied the egg negative conversion rate as follows;
Ascaris lumbricoides 73.3 io in 15 cases, Hookworm 93.6 o in 47 cases, T. trichurus 9. 3 in 43 cases and T. orientalis 72.2 o in 18 cases.
